<p>Reading is such a powerful thing that can transform our thoughts and can fuel development. Books open our mind and strengthen its well being. The best cinema in the world is the brain and to know it, read a good book.</p>
<p>A person can fetch a lot from reading. Reading is ideally one of the best exercises for our minds. Just like - for a healthy body, one needs proper nutrition and a balanced diet, good reading is important for a healthy mind. Reading is a good source of rejuvenation for our minds.</p>
<p>Below are some of the amazing benefits that reading can give us.</p>
<h2 id="heading-1-helps-in-building-focus-and-concentration">1. Helps in building focus and concentration</h2>
<p>We are living in the world of social media where a plethora of information can be found online. But one thing which we lack here is the focus. We simply waste most of our time surfing, chatting, shopping, unnecessary videos, etc.</p>
<p>Normally we look for 5% useful things and end up wasting our time in 95% unnecessary stuff. And all this is because the online world is so tempting and once you get into it, it drags you deep inside.</p>
<p>And Here reading comes to our rescue. Reading books is one of the constructive habits which improves our concentration power and focus. It compels us to live in the moment and concentrate without any intermediate distraction.</p>

<p>A baby is always very curious about the different flavors and textures of food. He/She wants to experience almost everything which they see. Apart from regular milk and purees which they have been taking, they want to enhance their list of food. They get excited looking at every new food comes to them. It's not necessary that they would love each and every food which is given to them but they always need choices.  </p>
<p>Here I am listing down some quick food recipes for more than a year old baby. These recipes are healthy for babies/toddlers and can be made easily without any hassle.</p>
<h2 id="heading-1-rava-porridge">1. Rava Porridge</h2>
<h3 id="heading-ingredients-required">Ingredients required:</h3>
<ul>
<li><p>Rava - 3 to 4 tbsp</p>
</li>
<li><p>Water - half cup</p>
</li>
<li><p>Jaggery or sugar - as per taste</p>
</li>
<li><p>Ghee - 1 tsp</p>
</li>
</ul>
<h3 id="heading-how-to-cook">How to cook?</h3>
<p>Roast Rava in ghee on a low flame. Don't overburn it and stop roasting once you get some fragrance.</p>
<ol>
<li><p>Add boiled water to roasted Rava and stir it until it thickens to your desired consistency.</p>
</li>
<li><p>Add jaggery/sugar to the completely thickened upma. Add until it is porridge consistency.</p>
</li>
<li><p>Rava Porridge is ready to serve.</p>

<h2 id="heading-2-sweet-potato-and-mango-mix">2. Sweet potato and mango mix</h2>

</li>
</ul>
<h3 id="heading-how-to-prepare">How to prepare?</h3>

<li><p>Boil sweet potato.</p>
</li>
<li><p>After boiling, peel it when cooled.</p>
</li>
<li><p>Chop mango and put both the things in a mixer grinder and blend them well.</p>
</li>
<li><p>Serve it in a bowl.</p>
</li>
</ol>
<h2 id="heading-3-carrot-puree">3. Carrot puree</h2>
<h3 id="heading-ingredients-required-2">Ingredients required :</h3>

<li><p>Carrot - 1 medium size</p>

<li><p>Milk - half cup</p>

<li><p>Jaggery/ Dates - 2 pieces of dates or nearly 2 tsp of jaggery powder</p>

<li><p>Chop the carrot into small pieces and boil till it becomes a little soft.</p>
</li>
<li><p>After boiling, let carrot pieces cool for a few minutes.</p>
</li>
<li><p>Blend in a mixer grinder along with dates/jaggery</p>
</li>
<li><p>Add some warm milk to this and mix it well.</p>
</li>
<li><p>Ready to serve.</p>
</li>
</ol>

<li><p>Dhaniya powder - 1 tsp</p>
</li>
<li><p>Haldi - little to add color</p>
</li>
<li><p>Ghee - 1tsp</p>
</li>
</ul>
<h3 id="heading-how-to-cook-2">How to cook?</h3>
<ol>
<li><p>In a pan takes some ghee and put it in low flame.</p>
</li>
<li><p>Throw cumin seeds into it till it crackle.</p>
</li>
<li><p>Add boiled rice to it and saute it nicely.</p>
</li>
<li><p>Add salt, dhania powder, and Haldi and saute again.</p>
</li>
<li><p>Add curd and mix it nicely and cook for a few minutes.</p>
</li>
<li><p>Yummy and healthy curd rice is ready</p>
</li>
</ol>
<h2 id="heading-5-oats-kheer">5. Oats kheer</h2>
<h3 id="heading-ingredients-required-4">Ingredients required :</h3>

<li><p>Oats/Daliya - 2-3 tbsp</p>
</li>
<li><p>Almonds - 2 nuts</p>
</li>
<li><p>Cashew - 2 nuts</p>
</li>
<li><p>Flaxseed - 1 tsp(powdered)</p>
</li>
</ul>
<h3 id="heading-how-to-cook-3">How to cook?</h3>
<ol>
<li><p>Gently wash oats with clean water and let it soak in water for 10-15 min.</p>
</li>
<li><p>Put soaked oats, almonds, cashew, and flaxseed powder in the blender and blend it nicely.</p>
</li>
<li><p>In a pan, put half spoon ghee and heat and then put the blended mixture into it and gently mix it up along with some water.</p>
</li>
<li><p>Add sugar/jaggery as per taste. Add milk into it. Cook it for 5 min in low flame.</p>
</li>
<li><p>Oats kheer is ready to be served.</p>

<p>The kitchen decides the health of the whole family, such a big role to play. Therefore it becomes even more important to take care of the storage and preparation of food items in our kitchen, that too, in a healthy way. I am jotting down some of the common things we should stop using in our kitchen, looking at the health hazards it can lead to. We eat food to gain nutrition, what if some of our common practices rob these nutrients from our food?</p>
<p>So it's better to be a little mindful of these things in our kitchen.</p>
<h2 id="heading-1-minimise-the-use-aluminium-cookware">1. Minimise the use Aluminium cookware</h2>
<p>Aluminium is a metal, intake of which, is not good for the human body. When we cook or drink in aluminum utensils, a small quantity of aluminum gets inside our body. But due to its properties aluminum neither gets digested nor gets out of the system as waste.</p>
<p>Aluminium cookware can pose various health hazards, it is a steady process but can cause big health problems. People with kidney problems may also have difficulty removing excess aluminium from their bodies because of which it gets accumulated, posing risks for bone and brain disorders.</p>
<p>We should avoid cooking foods, especially acidic foods such as tomatoes in aluminum cookware. Also, avoid storing leftovers in aluminum utensils, as it allows food to absorb small amounts of aluminum.</p>
<h3 id="heading-alternatives">Alternatives</h3>
<p>It is better to stop using old aluminum cookware and switch to better alternatives such as good quality stainless steel, cast iron utensils, or earthen pots. These can be little costlier than aluminum dishes but this cost is not more than our health</p>
<h2 id="heading-2-avoid-using-non-stick-cookware">2. Avoid using Non-stick cookware</h2>
<p>Nonstick cookware, such as frypans and saucepans, are coated with a material called polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), commonly known as Teflon. Generally, Teflon is a safe and stable compound. But, at temperatures above 300°C, Teflon coatings on nonstick cookware start to break down, releasing toxic chemicals into the air and can be infused into whatever food you cooking. It also creates a very unhealthy (to your lungs) smoke if it gets extremely hot.</p>
<p>Generally, we use spatulas, spoons, or flippers, in a Teflon pan, which can easily scratch it. Then you have a situation where the coating can flake off into your food, which is unhealthy. Non-stick cookware is safe until we cook food in low heat, and until the Teflon covering is not coming out. Because after that these nonstick utensils become rather hazardous.</p>
<h2 id="heading-3-minimise-the-use-of-plastic-containers">3. Minimise the use of Plastic containers</h2>
<p>There are certain chemicals in plastic that can leach out of the plastic and enter into the food and beverages we eat. Some of these chemicals can cause various health problems such as metabolic disorders (including obesity) and reduced fertility. Among the more troubling chemicals in plastic, are phthalates and bisphenol A (BPA). Both are endocrine disrupters, which are substances that interfere with the actions of human hormones. Plastic is harmful to the human body as well as to the environment. It is one of the major pollutant substances.</p>
<p>We should avoid using plastic containers, bags, bottles, furniture, toys, etc. Though it is difficult to completely avoid we can minimize the use of plastic in our day to day life.</p>
<h3 id="heading-alternative">Alternative</h3>
<p>If we talk about plastic in the kitchen, we can opt for steel or glass containers.</p>
<p>Plastic bottles can be replaced with steel, copper, glass bottles.</p>
<p>Plastic toys can be replaced with wooden toys</p>
<h2 id="heading-4-avoid-using-alluminium-foils">4. Avoid using Alluminium foils</h2>
<p>Aluminum foil, or tin foil, is a paper-thin, shiny sheet of aluminum metal. It's made by rolling large slabs of aluminum until they are less than 0.2 mm thick. Just like Aluminum cookware, Aluminum foil paper can lead to health problems. When we store hot chappatis, or other food in Aluminum wrapping, due to oxidation, some Aluminum seeps into our food and can impact our digestive system.</p>
<h3 id="heading-alternative-1">Alternative</h3>
<p>Instead of Aluminum foil, one can go for paper foils, cloth napkins as a safe option.</p>
<h2 id="heading-5-avoid-storing-milk-and-dry-goods-in-transparent-containers">5. Avoid storing milk and dry goods in transparent containers</h2>
<p>Well, All the above scenarios are common and most of you would be familiar with but there is one thing which is not so commonly known.</p>
<p>Do you know that storing milk and dry good like rice, cereals, etc in see-through containers can also impact your health?</p>
<p>Many people store milk in transparent containers or bottles. Since Milk is rich in the B vitamin riboflavin, but when exposed to light, due to chemical reaction, it reduces the vitamin's potency. Other nutrients, such as amino acids and vitamins like A, C, D, and E, are also affected. When light penetrates into these transparent containers, a process, known as photooxidation, can change the flavor of the milk and create disease-causing free radicals. Since grain products (especially whole grains) are also high in riboflavin, they too are susceptible to this breakdown of nutrients and production of free radicals.</p>
<h3 id="heading-alternative-2">Alternative</h3>
<p>Do not store milk and dry goods such as pasta, rice, and cereals in clear containers. Instead, opt for opaque containers like steel, and keep them at a place where they can be shielded from light.</p>

<p>Any Indian citizen living in the country is allowed to open the PPF account in self-name.</p>

<p>Once you invest in PPF, your money gets locked in for 15 years and you cannot withdraw your complete money before that. After locked in period is completed, you can either withdraw your money or if you want, you can extend it in blocks of 5 years.</p>
<p>That means if you extend it for 5 more years, your money gets locked again for the next 5 years.</p>

<p>PPF account can be opened both offline and online. You can either choose any bank or post office to open your account. The interest rate and rules are the same everywhere.</p>

<p>PPF provides the benefit of the EEE (exempt-exempt-exempt) tax model. Under section 80c, any contributions made to the PPF are tax-exempt up to 1.5 lakh annually. Also, the maturity amount and the interest received on PPF is also exempt from tax.</p>
<h3 id="heading-loan-against-investment">Loan against investment</h3>
<p>PPF provides the benefit of availing loans against the investment. However, the loan will only be granted if it is taken at any time from the beginning of 3rd year till the end of the 6th year from the date of activation of the account. <strong>Only 25% or less of the total amount available in the account can be claimed for this purpose.</strong></p>

<p>PPF allows partial withdrawal benefits, after completion of 5 years.</p>

<p>I can remember dates like birthdays, or anniversaries. I can remember faces even if I saw them 1 year back. It's hard for me to remember the route to someone's home. I am bad at remembering usernames and passwords, and debit card pins.</p>

<p>The same thing happens when you study. There are a few subjects which make you interested and some are boring, but you have to study them because you have an examination of the subject and you have to pass it.</p>

<p>Let me help you more to better understand, assume you study in 12th standards, and you have <em>3 subjects</em>: <strong>Physical Science, Life Science and Earth Science.</strong> You created a table of having three columns for subjects. Add all the topics that don't make you feel interested in the above table in respective subject's column. So, for the subjects in which you are interested: Don’t try to mug up. Try to analyze, apply them to everyday life. The problem is half resolved when you note it down and start correlating it with the real world. The visuals help you analyze the problem and gain interest in the subject. For the subjects in which you are not interested but need to study: Try to add them topic wise in the above persona table. Try to analyze, and apply them to everyday life</p>

<p>Well, this one is my personal favorite.  </p>
<p>Getting up early gives you ample time to divide your daily activities and devoting time as per the requirement of the task. Starting with more demanding tasks in the morning and once this is done, the other tasks will flow easily. Already done with your priority tasks, you will find sufficient time for other light activities and self-growth.</p>
<p>By the afternoon, you will find most of the work of your day is already done and this sense of satisfaction boosts your motivation to thrive the next day and your next day eventually becomes more exciting and fulfilling.</p>

Like you can give time to reading, writing, meditating, self-grooming, etc. With more time for yourself, you will feel more confident and a confident person further becomes a successful person.</p>
<p>Along with making more time for yourself, you can make more time for your family and friends. The more tasks you complete earlier in the day, the more time you can spend bonding with family and friends. </p>
<p>You would have noticed that most of the elderly people and also most of the infants have the habit of getting early in the morning, and If you too are an early bird, you will find more time spending with them. The time spent with elderly people of your family or babies in your family is the most special time to be cherished life long.</p>

<p>A good strategy to start with is to wake up a few minutes earlier every day until you achieve the desired result. Try to achieve your goal gradually, not immediately.</p>

<p>Sleep enough so you are actually well-rested and not tired. A well-rested person will wake up more energetically in the morning. Else if you have not taken proper sleep throughout the night, you will end up getting up tired in the morning, and eventually, your mood and productivity will suffer.  </p>
